JPHIT, along with the All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) Council, the Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) and the Wisconsin Health Information Organization (WHIO), served as amici and contributed to a brief in support of Alfred J. Gobeille, Chair of the Vermont Green Mountain Care Board, during a case versus Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
The brief outlined the details of the case, which sought to reverse a decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which ruled in favor of Liberty Mutual that Vermont's APCD data submissions were overly burdensome and inappropriate. This decision essentially thwarted Vermont’s eminently reasonable efforts to improve health and health care for its citizens―an area traditionally regulated by the States.
The brief from the amici sought to provide support in an effort to prove that the Second Circuit decision should be reversed. Read it here.
